The SBD Douglas Dauntless was the most important airplane of the US Navy from 1940 to 1943 when it was substituted by the SBD2C Helldiver. The SBD Douglas was built around the Wright Cyclone, 1100 HP and it was a very popular and suceeding aircraft. More than 1000 units were produced in only three years of service.
